Training:
I offer group-and-organization-based ACT and RFT training as workshops and didactic presentations via both virtual and in-person formats. I’ve provided over one hundred training events in various contexts and for many countries around the world. I work towards creating a learning environment that is informative, engaging, fun, and respectful of our shared humanity so that participants are more willing to experiment with new repertoires in the service of their personal and professional growth. Trainings can vary from a 2-hr ACT overview to 2-day ACT events and will include contextual behavioral principles to theoretically orient participants to the model, as well as some degree of experiential involvement. Longer events will also include hands-on dyadic and/or small group practice with ACT interventions.
ACT training events can occur at various skill-building levels, as well as focus on different parts of the model and its applications, including:
Introduction to ACT
Advanced ACT
The ACT Matrix
The ABC Choice Point
InterACT with Couples
Shaping Psychological Flexibility
Process-Based Functional Analysis
Creative Hopelessness for Challenging Contexts
Relational Frame Theory and Functional Contextualism
Training Testimonials:
Intro to ACT: “The presenter was excellent. He was very engaging and tuned in to his audience and where they were coming from. His examples/activities were easy to follow and accentuated the learning. The workshop was well organized.”
Intro to ACT: “The training was well-organized. Highest quality. Lou is a talented presenter - personable, knowledgeable. I appreciated the mix of lecture and experiential. I enjoyed learning more about ACT and how to use it.” - Debbie Oliver, MFT
Advanced ACT: “The Role/Real-Plays were hands down one of the most helpful in terms of seeing clinical application of concepts and receiving feedback on clinical skills; the modeling of these by Lou was excellent, and learning the more in-depth aspects of ACT and RFT was also incredibly helpful.”
Advanced ACT: “Training today with Lou Lasprugato was fantastic! Really lovely and powerful combination of heart and mind that is rare to find. Great teacher. Lots of really useful demos and practical exercises.” - Marc Tibber DClinPsy
InterACT with Couples: “The activity was great overall. Lou was comfortable and fluid in his presentation, which helped my learning posture as a participant. I can be overly perfectionistic about "getting things right," and his attitude encouraged me (and others) to be curious, ask questions when confused, and to practice "showing up" to my own inner desire to make the most out of the opportunity.” - Howard Crumpton
InterACT with Couples: “It was a great overview of this approach to couples therapy using an ACT lens. Looking forward to a deeper dive in the future. “ - Rachel Gow
Selfing with Parts in ACT: “Dear Lou, thank you for this workshop, it was very informative and insightful. It gave me a clearer understanding of the RFT aspect for selfing. Also, the demonstration on how to work with parts showed the way to approach such an important process as self-as-context. I liked the format: theory, exercises, demonstration and an opportunity to practice. That was amazing, thank you again!” - Olena
