Psychotherapy:
I view therapy as a precious investment of your values and vulnerabilities, so I aim to honor that investment with my commitment to your well-being. Through a non-judgmental, authentic, and compassionate stance, I strive to create a safe and collaborative space for you to explore sensitive issues, experiment with new ways of responding to stressors, and work towards what matters to you. Whether you’d like to improve the quality of your relationship(s) or health; cultivate more meaning, purpose, and fulfillment; or address mental health challenges, I will wholeheartedly support you in shaping your efforts to work towards these goals.
I offer affirming care for both individuals, including college students, and couples (intimate partners) of diverse backgrounds and orientations. My primary approach is acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). ACT is an evidence-based practice that promotes the engagement of one’s values, along with the skills to effectively navigate the difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences that show up along the way.

Specializations:
OCD/Anxiety
While it’s natural to seek relief from or attempt to control thoughts, feelings, and sensations that trigger anxiety and obsessions, it’s this very process that maintains and/or exacerbates suffering over time. Thus, treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety will typically involve acceptance-based, values-guided exposure work, in addition to skills to unhook from unhelpful thoughts. Any exposure work is done with your “willingness in charge”. While my perspective of OCD is informed by Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the therapy itself is based upon ACT. One reason that I’ve gravitated towards this specialization over the years is because of my own history of struggles with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive behaviors until discovering and applying psychological flexibility skills derived from ACT, which has been incredibly helpful.
Couples Therapy
Intimate relationships are often a centerpiece in people’s lives, and thus a potential source of both great joy and profound suffering, mediated by the patterns of interaction occurring between partners. Whether it’s a breakdown in communication, escalating conflict, disconnection, or unfulfilled desires and needs, an InterACT approach, that is ACT extended interpersonally, can carve out a new, more sustainable, path forward. After identifying your stuck points, values, and longings, we will work towards creating more workable and fulfilling patterns of interaction while transforming those that create suffering. To this end, I also draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. On a personal note, while at times challenging, I find my work with intimate partners to be especially rewarding, as I get to help shape and then witness beautiful transformations take place.

Insurance:
I am an out-of-network provider and do not directly bill your insurance; you are responsible for your fees at the time of your appointment. However, I can provide you with a monthly receipt (“superbill”) that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement according to your plan and policies. This approach protects your privacy by allowing you to choose whether or not to disclose private health information to your insurer. It also reduces the ability of your insurance provider to affect the scope or extent of your treatment.
Good Faith Estimate:
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a 'Good Faith Estimate’ approximating the cost of your anticipated psychotherapy services.
You will receive a 30-60 day notice of any expected rate adjustments.
